Our institution today

Today KK is one of the largest professional higher education institutions in Lithuania, with a community of around 5 500 students, about 1.000 employees, and over 30.000 graduates, who have successfully established their careers in Lithuanian and foreign companies. The university delivers the first cycle of studies leading to a professional bachelor’s degree. It has four faculties and one regional department.

The average student age is 22-23 years. The tuition of almost two-thirds of the future professionals is covered by the state, while the remaining students pay tuition fees. Over 1.600 students graduate from the university every year.

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) is a public university that was established in 1922. Ranked in QS World University Rankings in top 800+ VMU is the only public higher education institution in Lithuania and one of the few in the region where a wide liberal arts education is imparted.   • Private Housing:

In Vilnius, a 1-bedroom apartment costs around €770 in the city centre and €500 outside the centre.

In Kaunas, a 1-bedroom apartment costs around €530 in the city centre and €415 outside the centre.

In Šiauliai, a 1-bedroom apartment in the city centre costs around €350, and outside the city centre, it’s around €250.

  • Vilnius University Dormitories:

For students of Vilnius University, dormitories are a popular and affordable housing option, available in Vilnius and Šiauliai. The monthly rent for a room in the dormitory is around €70-€200, depending on the type of room (shared or private). The university dorms are located close to the campus, providing a convenient and cost-effective place to live while studying.

  • Co-living Options:

If you prefer a more community-oriented living space, co-living options are also available in Vilnius and Kaunas. These spaces provide private rooms with shared common areas like kitchens and lounges. Co-living is ideal for students who want to meet new people and share living costs. Rent for co-living spaces ranges from €250 to €500 per month, depending on the location and amenities provided.

Food

Expect to spend between €150 and €300 per month. Eating out can be more expensive, so cooking at home is a good way to save money.

Public Transport

Public transport in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Šiauliai is affordable and convenient. In Vilnius, buses and trolleybuses run from 5:00 AM to midnight, with night buses available. A student's monthly pass costs around €7.60. Kaunas operates buses and trolleybuses from 4:30 AM to 10:30 PM, with night buses on weekends. The student pass is €5.80. In Šiauliai, public transport runs from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with a monthly student pass costing about €4. Timetables for all cities are available through apps like "Trafi."

Telephone

For those who want to use a mobile phone in Lithuania, you may choose between three mobile phone companies: Telia, Tele2, or Bite. It is much cheaper to use a prepaid card from one of these companies than to use the services of your home country.

You can get the prepaid card in most grocery stores or specialised company shops. There, you can also get information on the best ways to use your card.
