UCAM (Universidad Católica de Murcia) is a private university founded in 1996 with a clear mission: to train students with knowledge and skills to serve society, to contribute to the further expansion of human knowledge through research as an integral part of the development of man and mankind and to participate in the evangelical mission of the Catholic Church in the areas of education and culture.

The Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia empowers students to develop their own real-world skills. The campus’s top class infrastructure, labs, and studios together with the practical subjects on offer will get students ready to put the knowledge they acquire into action. Every student has to complete an internship in public or private institutions where they will have a taste of their future field of expertise. UCAM provides more than 90 research groups which work in close collaboration with enterprises such as Coca-Cola, Danone, Vodafone or Siemens.

The Elite of Sport

Welcome to the University of Sports in Spain. Following the Anglo-Saxon model, sport is part of UCAM’s DNA, having just been hailed as the Champion of Spanish Inter-University Championships for the second consecutive year, with 76 medals (50 gold). UCAM can boast of its top athletes including Olympic medalists Mireia Belmonte and David Cal and World Champions such as Melanie Costa. The 21 federated teams sponsored and managed by UCAM include UCAM Murcia CB, a professional basketball team competing in the ACB Liga Endesa. The sporting facilities are led by the UCAM Sports Center, a high-tech gym accessible to both the university and local communities.

UCAM’s Campus de Los Jeronimos is located in Murcia, the capital city of the Southeastern region of Spain, where Mediterranean weather joins the natural beauty of the beaches of Costa Cálida, with the mountains and fields of the Huerta de Europa. The heritage of Spanish culture, known for flamenco, tapas, and fiesta, is reflected in Murcia’s people: welcoming, warm, enthusiastic and sociable. As a midsize region (1.5 million inhabitants), Murcia is full of artistic and social dynamics while offering affordable living costs, a safe environment, and modern infrastructure.

History of the ESCAC Foundation

The Superior School of Cinema and Audiovisual of Catalonia was founded in 1993 from the studies of the Professional Formation of Image and Sound of the Calassanç Center.

ESCAC is a member of the International Center of Liaison des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévisión (CILECT), an organization that brings together 120 specialized training centers in the field of audiovisual creation, and a founding member of the Groupement Européen des Écoles de Cinéma et de Télévisión ( GEECT) and the Federation of Schools of Image and Sound of Latin America (FEISAL).

At ESCAC you will create your professional family

Did you know that Javier Ruiz Caldera is still shooting his films with fellow ESCAC members? The same as Juan Antonio Bayona, Mar Coll, Kike Maíllo, Patricia Font ... Because ESCAC does not end when you finish your studies, the Community continues in the professional sector.

From your first weeks at school, you will get used to working on projects and setting up your work teams, which in most cases will accompany you throughout your professional career.

The ESCAC community is a way of making and understanding cinema

At school we encourage work by projects, in teams and with technical rigor.

Students work as a team with the aim of collaborating with each other and thus contribute to a common project. Developing the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and multicultural teams. All this will allow you to develop your talent in an environment where creative spaces and interaction between graduates of different promotions are promoted.

Student support

The Student Support service, aimed at both future students and students, is formed by the coordinators of the studies and aims to advise and guide students throughout the training period through interviews and personalized attention adjusted to the circumstances, needs and characteristics of each student.

Defender of the Student

If there is any doubt, complaint or query about the academic-administrative functioning of the center, the student may request an interview with the Student Advocate. This figure, in case of not being able to attend or resolve the matter, will refer the case to the Head of Studies, who has the power to raise it before the competent bodies established by the Internal Regulations of the center.

The students of the ESCAC, with the objective of looking after their interests and as stated in its Internal Regulations, are duly represented within the following four organizations:

• The Academic Board of the ESCAC
• The Student Assembly
• The Disciplinary Commission
• The Quality Commission
