The Faculty of Science at Stockholm University is the largest science faculty in Sweden and is among the top hundred science faculties in the world on the Shanghai ranking. Life as a student in Stockholm

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and one of the most prominent academic centers in northern Europe. The city is made up of several islands and is surrounded by water. The water is so clean that you can actually swim in the middle of the city. In the summer the sun never fully sets and people gather in open bars, restaurants, and parks to enjoy the light and the temperate climate. In the wintertime, it is often possible to ice skate in the middle of the city.

The University of Skövde is a public university in Skövde, Sweden. The university was established in 1977 and is specialised in fields such as Bioscience, Health Sciences, Cognitive Neuroscience, Informatics, Engineering and Technology, Game Development and Business Administration.

The University of Skövde has been named Student City of the Year 2025 because of our warm welcome of new students and the close-knit connections with the industry. Today, we offer a mix of traditional programmes as well as unique study options in STEM and several other fields.

Research for Change

The researchers at the University of Skövde want to contribute to making changes. That is why our research efforts are carried out in tight collaboration with our community. Furthermore, the research has a clear connection to the education at the university.

Our aim is that the university's research should make a difference locally, nationally as well as internationally. The share of the research that receives external funds is 66% (2019), and our principal contributors are KK-stiftelsen (The Knowledge Foundation), the EU, the Region Västra Götaland, and private companies.

The University of Skövde has five research fields. Three of these are Systems Biology, Informatics, and Virtual Engineering. These three form the foundation for INFINIT. The university's joint theme of Digitalization for Sustainable Development should always be integrated into all research projects and environments to the greatest extent possible.
